Deepen the cooperation and construction of the Bay Area and help Macao integrate into the national strategy

On the afternoon of September 17 , the signing ceremony and exchange seminar of a joint laboratory jointly established by the Macau Institute of Development and Quality and the National Materials Corrosion and Protection Science Data Center at the Shunde Graduate School of Beijing University of Science and Technology were successfully held at the Macau Science Center. At the signing ceremony, Professor Tan Liwu, Chairman of the Macau Institute of Development and Quality, Professor Li Xiaogang, Director of the National Materials Corrosion and Protection Science Data Center, and Professor Zhang Xiaotong, Dean of the Shunde Graduate School of Beijing University of Science and Technology, signed the "Jointly Build a National Materials Corrosion and Protection Science Data Center" on behalf of all parties. Protection Science Data Center - Macao Development and Quality Research Institute Joint Laboratory Cooperation Agreement. Chen Haifan, Director of the Public Assets Supervision and Planning Office of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Professor Zhang Weidong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University of Science and Technology Beijing, and Professor Zang Yong, Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of the University of Science and Technology Beijing, witnessed the signing. According to the agreement, the three parties will carry out in-depth cooperation in talent training, tackling major technical issues in the field of material corrosion and protection, promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, jointly building an international training institution for corrosion and protection under the Belt and Road Initiative , and jointly holding high-level academic conferences. The joint laboratory will mainly focus on: establishing a corrosion data observation point in Macao and incorporating it into the National Corrosion Data Center, jointly developing a new digital corrosion monitoring technology based on Building Information Modeling ( BIM ) and building a multi-environment coupled corrosion environment accelerated test platform, etc. The joint laboratory will enhance the overall innovation capability of the region, promote the diversified development of Macau and integrate it into the national strategy, and contribute to the economic and social development of the Greater Bay Area and the construction of a technologically powerful country.

The Macau Development and Quality Research Institute is a public capital administrative public welfare legal person in the Macau Special Administrative Region. It provides quality control and testing services for the construction and maintenance of large-scale infrastructure projects in Macau for a long time. He has rich experience in engineering, environmental monitoring and digital system applications; Beijing University of Science and Technology, established in 1952 , is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, the first steel industry institution of higher learning built in New China, and one of the first batch of graduate students in China. The National Materials Corrosion and Protection Science Data Center is one of the first 20 national data centers in the country led by the University of Science and Technology Beijing. , is also the only national data center in the field of materials. The center has built a networked observation system for environmental corrosion of infrastructure and major equipment materials, and carried out long-term accumulation of corrosion big data, corrosion life assessment, and research and development of new corrosion-resistant materials . Material selection design and life evaluation in key areas of engineering projects have made great contributions.

All three parties said that they will take the signing of this cooperation agreement as an opportunity to give full play to their respective advantages in talents, disciplines and scientific research, gather resources from all parties, and jointly cultivate top-notch talents in teaching and scientific and technological innovation in the field of material corrosion and protection. By carrying out all-round, in-depth and high-level cooperation, we will jointly promote the in-depth integration and development of schools and localities, explore the path of industry-university-research with Macao characteristics, and work together to create a new model of school-local cooperation across the country. The joint laboratory hopes to turn the severe material corrosion environment in Macau and the Greater Bay Area into development opportunities. While helping Macau to cultivate corrosion protection professionals, it will make good use of the location advantages and innovation and entrepreneurship environment of the Greater Bay Area, and closely focus on the national strategic needs. To meet the needs of local social and economic development, carry out cutting-edge core technology innovation and scientific research cooperation, jointly solve major scientific and technological problems in national strategies and local enterprise development needs, and continuously improve social service capabilities. At the same time, it will actively promote the integrated development of science and technology and economy, realize the transformation of scientific research achievements in the field of corrosion and protection, solve the problem of material corrosion, an important technical bottleneck that restricts the construction of the " Belt and Road " , and work together to create a first-class industry in the field of corrosion and protection. After the signing ceremony, the three parties held a seminar on " Corrosion Protection Helps National Development and Urban Construction " . Academician Mao Xinping gave an online report on " Development of Bridge Steel in China and Bridge Construction in Macau " , pointing out that the fourth bridge in Macau is a super large bridge connecting Macau. The cross-sea bridge project is of great significance. As the first steel structure bridge in Macau, the entire fourth bridge uses 420-690MPa grade bridge steel, which is rare in the industry and is at the forefront of the application of the national bridge steel systematic upgrade; Professor Li Xiaogang from the material corrosion big data network observation and research platform and equipment facilities A detailed report was made on the construction progress and achievements of the networked observation system of the National Material Corrosion and Protection Science Data Center from two aspects of online intelligent diagnosis technology for service safety . The technical level of data and material corrosion machine learning prediction explained in detail the operation mechanism of the corrosion monitoring system; Professor Tan Liwu shared the corrosion problems of heat exchangers and their control methods, and made an outlook on the future work content and construction goals of the joint laboratory.

It is understood that this joint laboratory is the first laboratory jointly built by a public capital institution of the Macao SAR and a national key university, enriching the innovative practice of " one country, two systems " and the construction of the Greater Bay Area . In addition, the joint laboratory will organize Australian researchers to participate in daily scientific research, focusing on cultivating professional talents for the Macao SAR, actively participating in key projects in the Bay Area, the country and the “ Belt and Road  initiative, and continuously improving technical standards and service capabilities. The project and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will make greater contributions.
