The Transport Bureau and the Macau Institute of Development and Quality signed the "Cooperation Agreement in the Field of Intelligent Transportation"

    The Transport Bureau and the Macau Institute of Development and Quality signed a "Cooperation Agreement in the Field of Intelligent Transportation" today (16th). purpose. The Transport Bureau believes that by cooperating with scientific research institutions, it will help to optimize its own conditions and lay a solid foundation for providing a transport system that can not only be in line with international standards, but also meet the needs of Macao's development.

 

    The signing ceremony of the agreement was held at 3:30 p.m. today at the Multi-Function Room of the Transport Affairs Bureau, and was signed by Wang Yun, Director of the Transport Affairs Bureau, and Tan Liwu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Macau Institute of Development and Quality, on behalf of both parties.

 

    In his speech, Director of the Transport Bureau Wang Yun said that in order to further strengthen its own technical strength, the authorities signed a cooperation agreement with the Macau Institute of Development and Quality to provide advice and technical support on the high-tech transportation system, including the development of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). A research plan to conduct research and discussions involving scale, information collection and dissemination, hardware setup, environmental assessment, risk analysis, and cost-effectiveness. In addition, research is carried out for the technical scale of the traffic control center, and it is planned to use advanced technologies (GPS and RFID, etc.) to optimize the traffic data analysis work, including the establishment of a floating car system.

 

    Wang Yun also expressed that he believed that through cooperation with scientific research units, it would help to optimize its own conditions and lay a solid foundation for providing a transportation system that can not only be in line with international standards, but also meet the needs of Macao’s development.

 

    Tan Liwu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Macau Institute of Development and Quality, said in his speech that with the signing of the agreement, both parties will set up a research team and invite experts from different fields to participate when necessary to conduct systematic research on the technology and planning of intelligent transportation systems , initially to collect and analyze traffic data, gradually introduce new technologies and ideas, optimize traffic equipment and systems, and build an extensible technology platform.

 

    Guests at the ceremony included Cheng Yuewei, Deputy Director of the Transport Bureau; Lai Kin-ho, Director of the Transport Equipment Division; Professor Ma Xuyuan, Acting President of the University of Macau, representatives of local academic institutions and transport industry groups.
